Allseas’ Pipeline Production Department (PPD) is responsible for the development, qualification and implementation of pipelay Welding-, Materials, Non Destructive Testing (NDT) and Field Joint Coating procedures, in line with the agreed client specifications.

Next to the activities related to the pipelay projects, the PPD is involved in the construction of structures, modifications and repair of vessels and platform preparations for heavy lifting, by means of the development and verification of welding-, NDT- and coating procedures.

Your role

The Unit Head Coating is responsible for all coating related activities within the Pipeline Production Department and supervises the coating activities to ensure these activities are managed in a safe, timely, qualitative and efficient manner. The Unit Head Coating identifies research, development or improvements to techniques, equipment, consumables and work method requirements based on the experiences with clients and project teams, departments, subcontractors, suppliers and other business contacts.

Tasks

  • Assign the Coating Engineer to tenders and projects and maintain personnel planning within the coating disciplines and onshore Training Centre (TRC);
  • Approve coating methods, coating equipment and coating consumables, and ensure the department produces its scope of work in a timely and cost effective way, as required for the projects;
  • Plan, approve and manage the timing and duration of coating activities at the (TRC);
  • Collect and analyse pipeline production related data and advise the Manager Production;
  • Monitor daily progress of ongoing production on the vessel or work site;
  • Provide tender input as requested by the Proposals Department;
  • Familiarize with project requirements, define associated strategies, and provide input for project preparations together with the department;
  • Liaise with the vessel and co-ordinators on project preparations;
  • Inform the supervisor on the vessel or work site of potential non-conformant or non-efficient coating practices;
  • Perform interdisciplinary checks on project specific and general installation procedures;
  • Ensure adequate follow-up of problems encountered by the vessels offshore;
  • Maintain and expand a good working knowledge and understanding of the application of coating codes;
  • Maintain and expand a technical and practical knowledge of production, coating processes and coating equipment, including the application of contract specifications, procedures, personnel qualifications, new or modified techniques;
  • Identify areas of improvements within the coating disciplines.
  • What we expect from you

  • BSc/MSc degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical Engineering or equivalent;
  • Minimum five years’ experience in welding, coating industry or non-destructive testing, preferably in an offshore environment;
  • Minimum three years’ experience in managing a department;
  • Knowledge of:

  • S-lay pipeline installation in general;
  • Pipeline production methods in depth;
  • Requirements involving proposals, projects and subcontracts;
