    About the position

As an Android Developer you work on the app part of all the different platforms we develop. You implement the designs in VueJS (often in combination with NuxtJS), using the smart components that are also used in the Atomic Design System.

In addition, you add the Apollo Framework to be able to take care of the communication via GraphQL with our backends. The deployment takes place via CircleCI to the staging environment.

  • 1 Youll create apps from start to finish
  • 2 Youll convert a design into an app
  • 3 You have experience with creating apps for customers
  • If, when you see a design, you can immediately and cleverly distinguish the components of which it is composed, you are a good fit for the position.

    Case example

For our customer 24Baby we were asked to implement a photo diary for the users of the website to keep track of valuable moments of their pregnancy and/or children.

First our designer prepared the full design in Figma. This gave me an overview of the work to be done. With this information we had a kick off meeting to discuss the strategy of developing this feature. The backend developers prepared new endpoints to be used, which means I had to update the GraphQL schema to implement new queries and mutations to communicate with our backend. With the data ready, I was able to use the design to create the new screens and features. It also required refactoring the user profile, which required some smart choices between reusing and rebuilding certain elements. After the result was ready, I created a pull request, so my work could be reviewed by the other developers at 9to5. Once approved, we sent a test version of the app to the customer for their approval.
