Teaching Assistant. Platform Developer
Project: Moral Water Risk: An Interactive Platform to Explore Fairness and Trust in Water Crisis Scenarios. Faculty: Technology Policy and Management (TPM) / Multi-Actor Systems
Duration: 10 months | ~6-8 hours/ week (negotiable)
About the project
The Moral Water Risk project is a cross-faculty TU Delft initiative that creates an interactive online platform where participants navigate realistic “what-if” scenarios about floods and droughts. By making decisions (such as how to allocate scarce water or choose between competing protections), users explore how fairness, responsibility, and trust shape crisis governance. The platform will be used in university courses, citizens' dialogues, and policy workshops across TU Delft.
What you will do
You will design and build the Moral Water Risk platform from the ground up. Your responsibilities include:
Developing an intuitive, visually engaging web interface for interactive crisis scenarios
Building the scenario engine and real-time decision visualisation features
Setting up the database to capture participant responses, micro-surveys, and reflections
Ensuring the platform is mobile-friendly, accessible, and scalable for large audiences
Conducting usability testing and iterating on the design based on feedback
What we are looking for
MSc student or recent graduate in Computer Science, Interactive Media, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field
Proficiency in web development and database management
Experience or strong interest in UX/UI design
Ability to work independently and communicate across disciplines
Affinity with topics at the intersection of technology, society, and ethics is a plus
What we offer
A unique opportunity to build a research-ready tool that bridges engineering, ethics, and public engagement. You will collaborate with researchers from TPM, EEMCS, and Civil Engineering & Geosciences, and your work will directly support scientific publications, teaching, and stakeholder dialogue.
