Overview

Reporting directly to the VP of R&D, you will lead our solar technology development efforts, driving innovation and leading a talented team of 10 engineers and scientists.

This role combines team leadership with project management, ensuring that new concepts move efficiently from idea to proof of concept and into product development. It is based in Delft, where our factory and production operations are located, and is a full‑time, onsite position (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday).

Our collaborative, diverse team is made up of engineers and scientists, marketers and researchers – people who have been in the industry for decades or have just arrived with fresh ideas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the R&D team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Partner with product management to shape new product concepts aligned with customer needs
  • Manage technology projects from conception to proof of concept, ensuring feasibility, quality, and cost targets
  • Drive cross‑functional development activities and maintain project schedules and budgets
  • Present progress and insights to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with strategic goals

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, or related field
  • 8+ years of leadership experience (with direct reports)
  • 5+ years in electromechanical product development or engineering (3+ in direct product development)
  • Strong leadership and project management skills (PMP a plus)
  • Broad understanding of design, manufacturing, and product use
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is an advantage
  • Hands‑on mindset: willingness to be actively involved in day‑to‑day operations and lead by example
  • Agile leadership: ability to lead teams with flexibility and speed in a continuously evolving business environment
  • Resilience: capacity to adapt to change and maintain focus under dynamic conditions
