In this hands-on role, you will work at the intersection of research labs management, high-performance computing, and emerging AI technologies, helping researchers and students turn ambitious ideas into reality. /b /p h3Responsibilities /h3 pAs a Research Infrastructure Engineer, you will join the Research Engineering and Infrastructure Team (REIT) within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS). REIT supports researchers and students with expertise in software engineering, data science, high-performance computing, and research infrastructure. /p pYou will work closely with the Intelligent Systems (INSY) department and collaborate with researchers, research engineers, HPC specialists, data engineers, and central ICT services. /p pA key part of your role is ensuring the reliability and availability of specialised research infrastructure that falls outside the scope of central ICT services. You will manage Linux-based servers, maintain access and security, perform troubleshooting, recover data when needed, and provide rapid support during demonstrations, teaching activities, and examinations. /p pYou will also support, maintain and manage research facilities such as InsyghtLab. This includes managing hardware and software environments, supporting audio-visual and sensing equipment, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, and advising researchers on hardware procurement and infrastructure solutions. In addition, you will deploy and manage project-specific servers, cloud virtual machines, and AI-related infrastructure to support the growing demand for advanced computing in research and education. /p pAs a trusted technical partner, you will act as a liaison between researchers and central ICT services. You will coordinate infrastructure requests, maintain technical documentation, manage inventories of hardware and software assets, and contribute to the continuous improvement of research support services across the faculty. /p pThis position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of technologies, from Linux systems administration and networking to GPU infrastructure, research computing, and AI platforms.
