Job description

In this project, you will develop flight control laws for a novel hybrid unmanned air vehicle (UAV) concept, combining hover, transition and forward flight. You will develop a MATLAB/SIMULINK model for control law development and simulation testing.

Working in a team, you will validate the developed control laws through scaled flight testing. Protoypes will be built to validate both the UAV design and the flight control laws. You will work with the team to implement the control laws on an autopilot, and analyze test flight results.

You will work on:

  • Simulation development in MATLAB/SIMULINK
  • Flight control law design
  • Flight testing & data analysis

You will join the MAVLab at the Control & Simulation department of the Aerospace Engineering faculty at TU Delft. The MAVLab is a dynamic group of enthusiastic researchers with expertise in control, MAV design, and autonomous flight.

Job requirements

This position is perfect for you if you are an expert on control systems and flight dynamics, and have experience with drones or other types of hardware. You have autodidactic skills and can independently solve problems. You have a strong research-oriented attitude, good communication skills, and are able to work effectively in a team.

You also have:

  • A PhD in (Aerospace) Control Systems or a related field
  • Experience with MATLAB/SIMULINK and preferably also with C/C++
  • Excellent command of the English language
