You’ll also gain project management skills and business knowledge so that you can evaluate the implementation of developed processes in an industrial environment. There’s plenty of room for personal development too. /p pIn your first year, you’ll take mandatory courses including economic evaluation and project management and choose advanced courses in fermentation technology, microbiology, downstream processing, environmental biotechnology or biocatalysts. You’ll also contribute to a group design project. During your second year, you’ll work on an individual design project carried out in or in close collaboration with a partner in the biotech industry. /p pDay-to-day you’ll be in a close-knit group that our trainees affectionately call their “international family”, which will teach you how to navigate multicultural environments. If all goes well, this two‑year position will lead to an Engineering Doctorate in Bioprocess Engineering, providing great prospects for a professional international career. /p h3Job Requirements /h3 pYou’re looking for a career in the international biotech industry. Process design, development and the application of technology are of particular interest to you. You speak excellent English, have an open, creative mind and a critical attitude, and are a top‑tenper at your current university. /p ul liThe programme welcomes applications from well‑qualified students who have successfully completed 5 years of university training (MSc, Ir., Engineering Diploma). /li liYou must hold an MSc degree in (Bio‑)-Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Environmental or Food technology, or comparable, with excellent results. /li liFrom our EngD‑trainees we expect an interdisciplinary attitude, an eye for application of technology in industry and strong team skills. /li liAnother relevant qualification, within the discretion of the Selection Committee. /li /ul h3Conditions of Employment /h3 ul liDuration of contract is a 1‑year contract from TU Delft with a 1‑year extension. /li liA job of 40 hours per week. /li liA salary based on Technisch ontwerper in opleiding of the CAO for Dutch Universities with a salary between €3029 gross per month based on a full‑time contract (38 hours), plus 8% holiday allowance and an end‑of‑year bonus of 8.3%. /li liAn excellent pension scheme via the ABP. /li liThe possibility to compile an individual employment package every year. /li liDiscount with health insurers on supplemental packages. /li liFlexible working week. /li liEvery year, 232 leave hours (at 38 hours). This will be reviewed after the pre‑selection. /li liGood command of spoken and written English can be demonstrated by successfully passing one of the following tests (certificates must not be older than two years): ul liTOEFL iBT with an overall band score of 100 with scores of at least 21 for each section. TU Delft does not accept TOEFL MyBest scores. /li liIELTS (academic version) with an overall band score of at least 7.0 with scores of at least 6.5 for each section. /li /ul /li liNative speakers will be exempted from the English test requirement, as will non‑native applicants who have obtained an English‑taught master’s degree. If during the selection process it is deemed that the English proficiency of the applicant with an English‑taught master’s degree does not meet the requirements, they may also be asked to do a test. /li liYour application will be evaluated by the EngD selection committee.
