About Eddy Grid
Eddy Grid accelerates the energy transition by optimizing industrial batteries, solar parks, and wind assets across multiple electricity markets — from day-ahead to real-time imbalance. We’re both a technology company and an energy supplier, which means our algorithms directly influence how power flows through the grid. We’re about 35 people today and growing fast. Our ambition is simple: make sustainable energy scalable and profitable — using data, code, and clever engineering.
About The Role
We’re looking for an Algorithm Engineer who loves turning complex problems into elegant, efficient algorithms.
You’ll design and improve the core logic that drives our trading, forecasting, and optimization systems — from predicting market prices to deciding when a battery should charge or discharge.
This is not a research-only role. We value pragmatic builders : people who think in small steps, focus on the essence, and don’t get lost in abstractions.
What You’ll Do
- Design and refine algorithms that optimize our energy trading strategies (day-ahead, intraday, and ex-post).
- Build models that predict market prices, solar and wind generation, and consumption patterns.
- Use machine learning where it adds real value — e.g., in forecasting or adaptive decision-making — without losing sight of the underlying algorithmic logic.
- Experiment with heuristics, recursion, and backtracking to improve decision-making.
- Translate mathematical and control-theoretic concepts into clean, maintainable Python code.
- Work closely with other engineers to move algorithms from prototypes to production.
- Analyze time-series data and turn insights into tangible performance improvements.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong foundation in algorithm design and optimization — you think naturally in recursion, backtracking, and combinatorial trade-offs.
- Experience in Python (we care more about clear algorithmic thinking than fancy syntax).
- You keep problems small. You can strip away noise and focus on the core — what truly needs to be solved right now.
- Pragmatic mindset: you prefer incremental progress over “big-bang” projects.
- Familiarity with machine learning, especially for time-series forecasting or pattern recognition.
- Ability to reason about complexity, performance, and correctness.
- A degree in a highly quantitative field — e.g., Systems & Control, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or similar.
- (Bonus) Experience with trading systems, energy markets, or market simulation.
- (Bonus) Experience in energy optimization (day-ahead, intraday, or balancing).
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- You’ll design algorithms that directly influence real-world trading and energy flows.
- You’ll join a small, ambitious team where your work has visible impact.
- You’ll get freedom to experiment, learn fast, and see ideas come to life.
- You’ll work in a pragmatic environment with minimal bureaucracy — where “try it” beats “discuss it.”
