Job title: Quality, Environment, Safety and Health (QESH) Advisor
Location: Delft, the Netherlands
Work model: Hybrid
The Quality, Environment, Safety and Health (QESH) Advisor, as member of the QESH team, informs, advises, coaches, challenges and supports the Delft and Wageningen based Science, Research and Innovation laboratories on QESH, in order to secure a healthy and incident-free working environment, today and tomorrow.
Your key responsibilities
- Act as an advisor, coach and trainer for line managers in their daily activities as being a leader and a role model for SHE and Q within the organization
- Act as an advisor, coach and trainer for (new) employees concerning application of QESH in their daily activities, concerning practical measures to be used in the experimental setup, as well as in relation to the workplace (ergonomics checks, ergonomics trainings and advice) in labs and offices
- Lead expert teams on QESH topics such as chemicals, laboratory and office ergonomics, laboratory waste
- Build, maintain, manage and improve the QESH Management System
- Guide and support compliance to new and existing Q and SHE legislations, requirements and standards, including the execution of gap assessments, through implementation of fit-for-purpose policies, procedures and best practices
- Execute and guide internal and external audits, Gemba and Supervision rounds in labs and offices
- Execute, lead or chair SHE Risk assessments in labs and offices, such as assessments on Job Safety, Health Risks, Machine Safety, TIER-2 exposure at the workplace and the ‘Risk Inventory- and Evaluation’ (RI&E)
- Lead & report Root Cause Analysis (RCAs) to determine the causes leading to QESH incidents and to gather effective solutions
- Be a member of the Management of Change (MoC) team: provide input on SHE and Q for changes to buildings, utilities, equipment, processes and ICT hard- and software
- Contribute to the development and management of platforms, applications, databases, and SharePoint sites for documentation of QESH related data, such as procedures, substance data, inspections, training matrixes, in line with Q and SHE requirements
You bring
- A detailed and analytical understanding about what it takes regarding soft skills, technical skills, systems management and way of organizing yourself to work as a QESH advisor in a demanding, complex Science and Innovation lab and offices organization
- The competences to do so via Degree in Safety Engineering (HVK, MVK) or via past experiences. Relevant experience in Biotech R&D is a prerequisite
- Experience with working in multidisciplinary teams
- Fluency in English and Dutch (written and spoken)
- Being skilled in application of dedicated software and digital tools is a prerequisite
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Flexible, result oriented mindset, can-do mentality
